IU student named Gilman Scholar

Jaycee Bigham, an Indiana University junior from the Bloomington campus, was recently awarded Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to pursue studies overseas. Bigham, a Spanish and Anthropology major who will be studying in Peru, received an award of $5,000. For the fallsemester application cycle, the Gilman scholarship program received 1,927 applications and awarded 850 scholarships.
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education. Online applications for the Spring 2010 cycle of the Gilman scholarship will open August 2009. For more information, visit the Gilman Program Web site.
