Course Load

• 15-17 IU credits per semester
  • 3-5 VU courses 
  • Option of one course offered at the IES Abroad Center

Fall semester students are encouraged to enroll in a VU minor and to select courses offered within that minor.

• Single room with private bathroom in VU campus residence hall located about 5-10 minutes by bike to the VU academic buildings
• Single room in a mixed gender apartment suite

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

VU admissions committee will not review applicants with cumulative GPAs below 2.9.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Fall 2022

• IU portion of fee: $237.21
• IES portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $19,916 (IES academic fees, housing, health insurance, orientation, non-optional field trips)
• Meals: $3,430
• International Airfare:  IES estimates $540 - $1,160

*Program fee reflects discounted fee for IU students after benefit of the $2,000 IES Public University Grant. Based on published IES materials. Indiana University cannot guarantee the prices charged by IES and is not responsible for any price increase or change. 

Airfare, personal expenses, and vacation travel additional. Initial prepayment of $500 due March 8, 2022.
