• This is an IU Co-Sponsored Program
• Semester Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at Yonsei University
• Typical enrollment: 100-200 students from U.S. colleges and universities

• 15 IU Credits
  • 3-4 elective courses, taught in English at Yonsei University, one of which must relate to Korea (3 credits each)
    • Students may not enroll in 1-credit sports classes as part of their 15-credit minimum enrollment
  • 3-6 credit Korean language course, coordinated by the Korean Language Institute at Yonsei University

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your third full-time semester of college
• have taken or are enrolled in at least 2 semsters of Korean language OR 2 courses with a primary focus on Korea
• have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Students who have transcripts from other institutions in addition to IU: Yonsei will calculate your GPA from all higher education institutions attended. You should ensure that your GPAs across all institutions still meet the minimum requirement.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Fall 2022

• IU portion of fee: $237.21
• CIEE portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $19,427.50 (academic fees, housing, orientation, visa fees, local excursions, cultural activities, and medical insurance.)
• Meals: $3,800
• International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,250 (for East Coast departures)

*Special discounted CIEE fee for IU students. Based on published CIEE materials. Indiana University cannot guarantee the prices charged by CIEE and is not responsible for any price increase or change. Program qualifies for need-based CIEE Overseas Study Program Specific Scholarships. 

Airfare, personal expenses and vacation travel additional. Initial prepayment of $500 due March 22, 2022.

Spring 2023

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.

• National Freeman-ASIA Scholarship awarded on a competitive, need-based basis (applications due once a year in March)

• CIEE scholarships and grants available.
