The program consists of a 5-month industrial internship in Germany in collaboration with the Fachhochschule Heilbronn (University of Applied Sciences Heilbronn), a partner institution of IUPUI. The internship is a required part of the Dual Degree Program in International Engineering.

- Academic Program
- Students will be registered at IUPUI during their internship and earn 6 credits in GER-G 493 (Internship in German) and 2 credits in Technical Electives in Engineering (ME-C 184 & ME-C 284 or ECE-I 199 & ECE-I 299). Enrollment in GER-G 493 will put students into full-time status at IUPUI.
- Students will be submitting bi-weekly logs in German via e-mail to the German Program Coordinator.
- At the conclusion of the internship students will be required to submit a cultural report in German and a work report in English. In order to receive technical elective credits for engineering, students have to write a report and/or make a presentation to the ME or ECE department. Students will also receive an evaluation by their internship supervisor.

Students may stay in the university dormitory or rent a private room
- Program Eligibility
You may apply if you:
- are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
- Student must be enrolled in the Dual Degree Program for International Engineering
- Student must have completed at least one 300-level German course, plus several upper-level courses in their respective engineering curriculum
- Student must be in their fourth year of study in the Dual Degree Program for International Engineers
- have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA
Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

- Transportation in Germany: $250 (Travel between German airport and Heilbronn)
- Transportation in Heilbronn: $175
- Student housing (residence hall): $1,300 - $1,800 (5 months at $260 - $360/month)
- Meals: $1,950 (5 months at $390/month)
- AOK Insurance: $535 (5 months at $107/month)
- Temporary Insurance: $30
- Heilbronn University enrollment fee: $60
- Study Abroad administrative fee: $76.50
- Miscellaneous expenses: $500 (5 months at $100/month)
- Estimated Total cost: $6,077 - 6,577 + standard tuition and fees
Note: Students from non-EU countries are required to present proof of financial means of at least 680 € (Euros) per month during their entire stay in Germany at the aliens department in Heilbronn.
