Rome and Paris-IES

• This summer program fulfills the IUB general education World Languages & Cultures requirement (College BA majors are still required to fulfill four semesters of a language)

• IES Abroad “Museums, Art & Culture” Summer program*
• Courses with students from other U.S. colleges and universities
• Courses integrate class time with course-related trips to art and cultural management institutions

Course Load

• 6 IU credits
  • Choose one course in each program location.
  • 3-credit area studies course in Rome
    • Rome as a Living Museum (ARTH-A 393 CASE AH) – requires at least one college-level Art History course as a pre-req
    • The Splendor of Roman Art (ARTH-A 210)
  • 3-credit area studies course in Paris
    • 19th Century Art: Impressionism and Post-Impressionism (ARTH-A 340 CASE AH)
    • History of Paris in Art and Architecture (ARTH-A 200# CASE AH)

      *-OS 100 (-OS 300) is the default designation to identify overseas study recorded as 100-level (300-level) undistributed credit that can count in total hours toward graduation and may be able to satisfy major, minor or distributional requirements with the approval of participant's school or the department.

• Students live in furnished apartments with kitchen area and shared or ensuite bathrooms.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of Education Abroad. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.
• IES Abroad guaranteed aid of up to $7,000 (semester) or up to $3,000 (summer) based on confirmation of official FAFSA Expected Family Contribution. See details. Also see IES Abroad Scholarships and Aid available.
