Policies

Given the multidimensional nature of study abroad, a range of policies and protocols are in place to govern and direct various aspects of procedures and operations of the Office of Overseas Study.

Overseas Study makes available written policies that cover a wide array of areas, including student eligibility, application, admission and program participation; health, safety and security measures and actions; new program development, program monitoring and reauthorization; collaboration and interaction with external program providers; and withdrawal, refund and non-payment policies.

The Office of Overseas Study endorses the Standards of Good Practice and the Code of Ethics of the Forum on Education Abroad and endeavors to use them as a guideline when creating, monitoring, and evaluating IU programs.
