• IES "European Union" program*
• Orientation with intensive German
• European Union Studies integrative seminar and Model EU simulation
• Courses on the European Union taught in English for IES Abroad students only
• Elementary and intermediate German language courses
• Three course-related excursions totaling approximately 22 days to different parts of EU
• Option of unpaid, post-program, internships with political parties, governance bodies, and NGOs, where available (additional fees apply; spring semester only)
  • Students will need to go through the Non-IU program process for the internship and will need to work with their academic department to secure an IU course equivalent.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Fall 2023

• IU portion of fee: $241.95
• IES portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $21,480 (IES academic fees, housing, health insurance, local excursions, and orientation)
• Meals: $2,800
• International Airfare: IES estimates $1,100 - $1,375

• International Airfare: IES Abroad estimates $815 - $1,000

Financial Aid and Scholarships:

• IU scholarships, grants and loans applicable to program costs with some exceptions. Please carefully check these exceptions before you commit to a program.
