• Semester Program with Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) at the University of Ghana
• Typical enrollment: 30-40 students from U.S. colleges and universities

• 15 IU credits
• Courses at the University of Ghana in wide range of courses
• Required Twi language course at the University of Ghana
• Required course focused on Ghana and/or West Africa
• Optional, unpaid 3-credit internship

• Please note: Directed Independent Research is not an option for IU students on this program. Students cannot earn credit for independent research on the Legon CIEE program.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

Prior coursework with African Studies content is strongly recommended.

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

• IU portion of fee: $237.21
• CIEE portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $17,527.50 ( academic fees, housing,
  homestay students will receive breakfast and dinner during the week and three meals a day on weekends (no meals included for residence hall option), orientation, local excursions, cultural activities, and medical insurance)
• Meals: $500 - $2,000
• International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,550 (for East Coast departures)
