This program is restricted to students admitted to the Kelley School of Business.

The program will satisfy the IUB Gen Ed World Language and Culture Requirement.

Please note: Indiana University co-sponsors CIEE Open Campus programs as single-site options only through standard billing and academic arrangements between IU and the program provider. Course Load

18 IU credit hours

• 3 credits of Italian language (based on placement test)
• 15 credits of business and general education coursework in English
• CIEE courses for program students only
• Two courses per block*
  • *CIEE allows a minimum of 15 credits for enrollment; Indiana University students are required to enroll in 18 credits (two classes during each of the three blocks).
  • All classes must be taught in-person from the CIEE Rome Center (internship and service learning included). Exceptions to take a synchronous, online-taught CIEE class (from another CIEE Open Campus site) will only be granted on the basis of academic rationale, and permission from Overseas Study is required.
  • Please note: Independent study is not an option for IU students on this program. Students cannot earn credit for independent study on the Rome CIEE program.

• Students are required to live in program-provided housing in Rome.
• Students stay in shared apartments.

You may apply if you:

• are an undergraduate student at any Indiana University campus who is making normal academic progress
• are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college
• are an admitted Kelley business student
• have approximately a 2.75 cumulative GPA

No Italian language background required.

Business majors must have (or will have) successfully completed the KSB prerequisite of the Business Integrative Core (or equivalent coursework at an IU campus outside Bloomington) by the start of the program

Students must have a passport valid for six months beyond program's end date.

Students must be able to demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and self-reliance.

Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during program period are ineligible.

Fall 2022

• IU portion of fee: $237.21
• CIEE portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $17,812.50 ( academic fees, housing, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, and medical insurance.)
• Meals: $2,700 
• International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,250 for East Coast departures

 Spring 2023

• IU portion of fee: $237.21
• CIEE portion of fee*paid to IU bursar: $18,952.50 (academic fees, housing, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, and medical insurance.)
• Meals (not included in program fee): $3,680
• International Airfare: CIEE estimates $1,250 for East Coast departures
